Psychological testing aims to assess a broad array of constructs including intelligence, academic abilities, neuropsychological, and emotional functioning. The information gained is used for indicating differential diagnoses and to assist in the development of treatment plans, or determining effective educational interventions.
Testing can be referred by clinicians, physicians, neurologists, parents or school personnel. Reasons for referral to testing often include concerns with an individuals rate of development, declining or delayed academic skills, specific concerns with the ability to sustain attention or fully utilize memory functioning. Neurologists and Physicians also commonly make specific referrals for neuropsychological evaluations following head injuries or when there is suspicion of a developmental disability or degenerative disease. All psychological and diagnostic evaluations are performed by psychometricians who are licensed psychologist with specific training and experience in diagnostics

Testing services are not routinely covered by major medical insurance unless the service can be substantiated as being based on medical necessity. Evaluations conducted for the purpose of educational planning are not reimbursable by health insurance plans.

Built into the comprehensive diagnostic process is the results meeting, during which evaluation findings are shared and questions regarding functioning and diagnosis can be addressed. Additional consultation and advocacy is also available, at an additional charge, in which the psychometrician may be available to consult with school staff and/or advocate for school based support services. |
